SRILANKAN BATSMAN ANGELO MATHEWS GOT HIM OUT IN MOST UNFORTUNATE WAY AGAINST BANGLADESH AS "TIMED -OUT" AT ARUN JAITLEY STADIUM, DELHI. MATCH - CRICKET WORLD CUP ODI 38 OF 48

Sri Lanka was batting first. During 25th over, Sadeera Samarawickrama got caught by Mahmudullah bowled by Shakib Al Hasan. As fall of this wicket, Angelo came in to play.

Here is the twist. Angelo's helmet strap was broken, though he had come from pavilion. On ground, he asked for the replacement & completely missed to take the guard First.

Now, the time taken by him, between taking the guard post the Helmet replacement & earlier wicket, happened to be MORE THAN 2 MINUTES.

Bangladesh Captain, Shakib Al Hasan made an appeal for the "delay in taking guard" resulting in "Timed-out" dismissal of Angelo Mathews.

ICC CRICKT WORLD CUP 2023 RULE ASKS BATTER TO BE READY TO FACE THE BALL WITHIN 2 MINUTES OF DISMISSAL / RETIREMENT OF A PREVIOUS PLAYER.

Though Mathews tried to justify, "Time-out" decision did not turn up for him & he had to leave the ground, without facing a single ball.

Angelo was so disappointed that he threw his helmet after crossing the boundary line as he returned. To be noted, as per rule, wicket does not go to bowler.

Angelo became the first ever "Timed-out" wicket in the history of International One Day Cricket. First time Bangladesh won against Sri Lanka in any World Cup matches so far.
